What happens at a check-up
A proper examination is far more than a quick look. Your clinician checks every tooth surface, your gums, your bite, existing fillings and the soft tissues of your mouth, including a screen for oral cancers. Digital X-rays are taken only when clinically justified, typically every couple of years.
Then comes the professional clean: scaling away the hardened plaque (calculus) a toothbrush can't remove, polishing away surface stains, and applying fluoride to strengthen enamel. Most patients leave with that unmistakable just-cleaned smoothness, and a plain-English summary of anything worth watching.
Why six months matters
Decay and gum disease are quiet in their early stages, by the time something hurts, the fix is usually bigger and more expensive. Regular visits mean we can reverse early decay with fluoride, fix small cavities with small fillings, and keep gum disease from ever taking hold.
Nervous patients welcome
If it's been years between visits, you won't get a lecture here, just a fresh start. Tell us you're anxious when you book and we'll pace everything to your comfort.
