How implants work

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed where a tooth's root once was. Over a few months it fuses with your jawbone (osseointegration), becoming a rock-solid anchor for a porcelain crown, a bridge, or even a full-arch restoration. The result looks, feels and works like a natural tooth, you eat what you like and brush as normal.

Why replace a missing tooth at all?

A gap does more damage than it shows. Neighbouring teeth drift and tilt, the opposing tooth over-erupts, chewing shifts and overloads other teeth, and the jawbone in the gap slowly shrinks away. Replacing the tooth protects everything around it.

The Align process

  • Assessment & imaging: we examine the site, your gum health and bone volume, with 3D imaging where indicated.
  • A written plan: total costs, stages and timing before anything begins, including alternatives such as bridges or dentures.
  • Placement & healing: the implant is placed under local anaesthetic; most patients are surprised how uneventful it is.
  • The new tooth: a custom crown, colour-matched and restored on site by Dr Pavan Bellubbi.
Implants aren't right for everyone, smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and gum disease all affect success. We'll give you a straight answer at your assessment, including whether a simpler option would serve you better.
