A relaxed young patient at Align

Little patients, extra patience

Children's appointments at Align are deliberately unhurried. First visits are often just a ride in the chair, a count of the teeth and a sticker, because a child who trusts the dentist at four becomes an adult who never fears the drill at forty.

Much of our children's care is provided by senior oral health therapists, including clinicians with more than 25 years of paediatric experience. They're brilliant with shy kids, wriggly kids and kids who've had a rough experience elsewhere.

What we look after

  • First dental visits (we recommend around age 1–2) and check-ups
  • Fissure sealants to protect newly erupted adult molars
  • Fluoride treatments and diet advice that actually sticks
  • Fillings for baby and adult teeth, gently done
  • Habit guidance, thumb-sucking, dummies and habit-breaker appliances
  • Early orthodontic assessment from around age 7, see early orthodontics

Bulk billing under the CDBS

Eligible children aged 0–17 can receive up to $1,132 of dental care over two calendar years under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule, check-ups, cleans, X-rays, fillings and extractions, bulk-billed with no out-of-pocket cost for covered services.

Is my child eligible for CDBS bulk billing?

Three quick questions. This is a guide only; we confirm eligibility with Medicare before your visit.

Is your child aged 17 or under at any point this calendar year?

Is your child eligible for Medicare?

Does your family receive Family Tax Benefit Part A (or another eligible government payment)?

Good news: your child is likely eligible. That's up to $1,132 of bulk-billed dental care over two years. Call (02) 9723 5757 with your Medicare card handy and we'll confirm the balance in minutes.
Book a bulk-billed check-up
You may still qualify. Several payments besides Family Tax Benefit A count, and Services Australia reassesses each January. Call (02) 9723 5757 with your Medicare card and we'll check for you. It takes two minutes.
Call and check
CDBS probably isn't available this year, but children's check-ups are well covered by health fund extras, and we'll always quote before anything happens. Worth a call to talk through options.
